Surfing Lessons


At Boosy’s Surf School through an easy to follow, step-by-step method we will help you build a solid surfing foundation. You get the complete safety, advice and encouragement from a surf instructor who is beside you the whole time. We can specifically target areas to help improve your own individual technique.

Group Lessons

We offer group lessons with a maximum of 6 students at any one time. Safety and quality is our focus so we like to keep the groups small. This allows the surf instructor to get to know everyone in the group and give the necessary individual attention.  A group lesson is the best option for families or other groups to experience surfing whilst on vacation in Barbados.

Private Lessons

These are the ultimate introduction to surfing as the surf instructor can run the surf lesson to suit your own individual ability. The private surf lesson is a great way to get your technique right from the start and then when you feel confident you can progress to a group surf lesson or book a surf tour.

Lesson Structure

  • Beach lesson to brief you on wave conditions and technique to getting into the line up and to getting to your feet when the board is in motion
  • Push students into their first waves
  • Assistance throughout the lesson
  • Individual feedback from the instructor
  • Just to keep it real and FUN the instructor will attempt to catch another turtle with his hands

Your surf lesson will be held at Freights Bay (Cotton House Bay in Atlantic shores if you are looking at a map of Barbados). Surfing lessons will be postponed when conditions are unsafe.

The meeting point for your surfing lesson will be given when you make your booking. Bookings are essential.

Surfboards for lessons

Surftech Softops are the best surfboards available for teaching and learning to surf, and they are the only boards we use here at Boosy’s Surf School!

We Provide

  • Pick up and drop off (South Coast ONLY)
  • Surfboard
  • Thorough overview of the surf spot and safety measures to follow
  • 20 – 30 min spent practicing the steps that have been proven to lead to a successful surfing experience

All you need to bring is

  • Towel
  • Boardies or Swimsuit
  • Foot wear, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and a bottle of water are a good idea.
  • Cash. No credit card facilities are available.

Lesson Packages

Times

9 a.m. – 11 a.m. | 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. | 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. – 7 days a week.

Prices

  • 1 day 2 hrs of surfing – US$35.00 per person
  • 1 day 2 hrs of surfing – Private Lessons US$75.00 per person
